The BMB-NRC Aerological Complex, a joint venture between Uzbekistan and Russia, has been inaugurated. This project, one of the largest collaborative efforts between the two nations, is situated in the Sharaf-Rashidovsky district of the Jizzakh region.
The complex, which spans over 40 hectares, will house facilities for sorting, calibrating, processing, packaging, and storing a variety of agricultural products. The project, estimated to cost UZS 709.7 bn ($57.6 mn), will be executed in three stages. Upon completion, the complex will have the capacity to prepare up to 810,000 tons of agricultural products annually for export.
The complex will also offer customs, phytosanitary, and banking services. The Chamber of Commerce and Industry has noted that the products will be transported to Russia and other CIS countries without any additional checks or delays.
The project has already created 180 permanent and over 400 seasonal jobs. Upon completion, it is expected to provide employment to 1,410 individuals on a permanent basis and an additional 1,500 on a seasonal basis.
Plans for the launch of the agrilogistic complex in the Jizzakh region were announced in August. Dmitry Volvach, Deputy Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation, also mentioned plans to expand supplies as part of the Agroexpress initiative.
