The Senate conducted a review of the law concerning the ratification of the agreement on union relations between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan during its latest plenary session, the Senate's press service reports. Senators underscored the longstanding and close relationship between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, highlighting them as trusted strategic partners.
The agreement's primary objective, as per the senators, is to reinforce a new phase of interstate relations focused on enhancing the independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and sustainable economic development of both nations. The agreement outlines comprehensive collaboration in foreign policy, defense and security, migration, the advancement of industrial cooperation, the implementation of joint measures for the prudent use of transboundary water resources, and the enhancement of ties between parliaments, political parties, and public organizations.
Senators expressed the view that the agreement's ratification would contribute to supporting the spiritual and cultural affinity of the two nations, fostering mutual relations in cultural, scientific, educational, and sports domains. Notably, the report emphasizes the inclusion of the Regulation on the Supreme Interstate Council of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, led by the heads of state, as an annex to the agreement.
Following the deliberations, the Senate formally approved the law for the ratification of the agreement.
