The press service of the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan has announced plans to elevate the trade volume between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Republic of Uzbekistan to $10bn.
Kazakhstan considers Uzbekistan a significant trade partner, accounting for approximately 70% of all trade in Central Asia. Over the past year, trade turnover has surged by 30%, reaching an initial milestone of $5bn. Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov expressed commitment to actively working towards the $10bn target during a meeting with Uzbekistan's President Shavkat Mirziyoev. He assured that the Kazakhstani government would spare no effort to progressively enhance cooperation across various bilateral sectors.
President Shavkat Mirziyoev reciprocated, acknowledging the systematic realization of strategic priorities between the two countries. This extends to collaboration in trade, transportation, and the water industry. Mirziyoev expressed confidence in the advancement of all discussed matters, emphasizing the absence of outstanding issues. Furthermore, he highlighted numerous trade projects, collaboratively agreed upon with the Kazakhstani president, aimed at ushering in a new era of economic cooperation.
