On October 27, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev received a presentation outlining plans for expanding geological exploration, identifying, and developing promising mineral deposits.
Ensuring access to mineral resources is of paramount importance for achieving significant progress in our country's industrial development. In recent years, the geological sector in our country has fortified its material and technical infrastructure, intensified scientific research, and prioritized workforce training.
The presentation provided an overview of the work undertaken within the sector, as well as plans to engage foreign partners and investors in identifying and developing mineral resources.
As previously emphasized, geological exploration has tripled in recent years compared to the previous period. Cutting-edge techniques, such as 3D seismic surveying, aerogeophysics, space geology, and digital geology, have been introduced. A university specializing in geological sciences has been established, with 1,500 young individuals currently acquiring modern knowledge and skills.
Furthermore, legislative improvements and the creation of other necessary conditions have been put in place to attract substantial private investments into geological projects.
As a result, the number of entrepreneurs engaged in the exploration and development of deposits has quadrupled. This year alone, foreign investments in geological activities have reached $180mn, with the total value of projects being implemented exceeding $2bn.
Following the report, the President of Uzbekistan outlined the tasks to be accomplished in the field of geological exploration in the upcoming year.
