Bakhtiyor Ibragimov has been designated as Uzbekistan's ambassador to Austria, following his tenure as the nation's permanent representative at the United Nations, Dunyo reports.
A 57-year-old diplomat, Ibragimov holds a degree from the Tashkent Institute of National Economy, now known as Tashkent State University of Economics. With a career spanning back to 1992, he has served in various roles within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, both at its central headquarters and in Uzbekistan's embassies in the United States and South Korea.
Bakhtiyor Ibragimov holds the diplomatic rank of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary. Previously, he was appointed to replace Abat Faizullaev, who worked as ambassador in Vienna in 2020-2023.
Concurrently, Abat Faizullayev, who previously served as Uzbekistan's ambassador to Austria and acted as the ambassador to Hungary, has been appointed as the country's ambassador to Italy. Additionally, he fulfilled the role of the country's permanent representative to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe and various UN organizations located in Vienna.
In recent developments, a new ambassador to Sweden has been appointed. Nodir Ganiev has assumed his duties as the first ambassador of Uzbekistan to Sweden. Previously, he served as the Charge d'Affaires of Uzbekistan in the country.
