During the meeting, President Japarov expressed his gratitude for the UN Secretary-General's longstanding connection with Kyrgyzstan, emphasizing that Guterres had visited the country on numerous occasions, both in his current role and in his previous capacities. This bond between the UN leader and the Central Asian nation underscored the importance of their discussions.

António Guterres commended Kyrgyzstan for its commendable progress towards the SDGs, recognizing the country's commitment to these global objectives. He further stated the UN's willingness to provide continued support to Kyrgyzstan in its pursuit of these goals, which encompass critical areas such as poverty reduction, healthcare, education, and environmental sustainability.

President Japarov emphasized the paramount importance of regional and international cooperation in Kyrgyzstan's vision for the future. He highlighted the growing significance of Central Asia in the current geopolitical landscape and affirmed Kyrgyzstan's commitment to strengthening collaboration with neighboring nations.

Regarding territorial disputes in the region, President Japarov mentioned the signing of an agreement on the state border with Uzbekistan and ongoing negotiations with Tajikistan as crucial steps towards fostering peaceful cooperation and resolving longstanding issues.

The president also underscored the significance of the proposed railway project connecting Kyrgyzstan with Uzbekistan and China, emphasizing its potential to enhance infrastructure and transportation links across the region.

Kyrgyzstan's commitment to achieving the SDGs by 2030 was a focal point of the discussion. President Japarov highlighted the country's remarkable performance in international sustainable development rankings but acknowledged that the work is not yet complete. He emphasized that Kyrgyzstan remains committed to realizing these goals, guided by international law, national interests, and constructive dialogue.

In addition to its dedication to the SDGs, President Japarov outlined Kyrgyzstan's proactive stance on climate change, environmental protection, and biodiversity conservation. He also voiced support for initiatives aimed at reducing the debt burden of developing countries and called upon the international community to consider swapping foreign debt for green initiatives, aligning with the global drive towards sustainable development and environmental responsibility.

The meeting between President Sadyr Japarov and UN Secretary-General António Guterres served as a platform for celebrating Kyrgyzstan's achievements in the realm of sustainable development while highlighting the country's commitment to regional cooperation and its pivotal role in the evolving geopolitical landscape of Central Asia. As Kyrgyzstan continues its journey toward sustainable development, it looks to build upon its accomplishments and collaborate with international partners to create a better future for all.
