The owners of a Mitsubishi car converted it into an improvised shelter for their golden retriever named Richard. A dog was confined to the trunk of the vehicle. However, after a public outcry on social media, Richard, was finally rescued and taken to a safe home.
The correspondent for "Izvestiya," Diana Chuprina, revealed that the car had been parked under the scorching sun for an extended period. Concerned neighbors had made numerous attempts to buy the dog from its owners, but they remained steadfast in their refusal.
"Recently, the car was parked under the blazing sun. Neighbors repeatedly tried to buy the dog, but the owners remained unyielding," said Diana Chuprina.
The publication also obtained footage of concerned passersby engaging in a conversation with Richard's owner. When questioned about the reasons for such treatment of their pet, the woman responded defensively.
"I must tell you about my entire situation and why I placed Richard here? I simply don't understand who you are to teach me about life," she retorted.
According to her, she was left alone with a newborn baby at the time, as her husband had gone away for a week. She placed Richard in the trunk to ensure that he wouldn't disrupt her while she tended to the child.
However, eyewitnesses on social media claim that this was not an isolated incident. Richard, the golden retriever, had been living in the car for nearly four years. The owners would occasionally take him out for a walk but would then return him to the trunk.
Passersby noticed that the dog had a vacant look in his eyes, excessive shedding of fur, and his overall condition left much to be desired. Outraged citizens united, filing a complaint about the mistreatment of the animal and creating a social media storm.
Following this public outcry, Richard was finally rescued and taken to a caring home. Nevertheless, animal welfare organizations have taken up the case for further investigation and intervention.
