President Japarov launches Akylman Presidential Lyceum: beacon of excellence for gifted students in Kyrgyzstan

President Sadyr Japarov of Kyrgyzstan unveiled a groundbreaking initiative as he inaugurated the Akylman Presidential Lyceum, a prestigious educational institution dedicated to nurturing the intellectual talents of gifted children. The grand opening ceremony, attended by officials, educators, and excited students, marked a significant step forward in the country's commitment to fostering excellence in education.

The Akylman Lyceum stands as a state-of-the-art specialized general educational institution, born from President Japarov's vision to provide a nurturing environment for Kyrgyzstan's most promising young minds. Geared towards students who have successfully completed six grades of secondary school, the lyceum has been designed to provide an unparalleled educational experience. The institution is set to accommodate approximately 400 students, offering a unique curriculum that seamlessly blends Kyrgyz and English languages.

Enrollment at the prestigious lyceum is achieved through a rigorous annual competitive selection process, ensuring that the brightest students from all corners of the nation have the opportunity to shine. In alignment with the government's commitment to meritocracy, teachers for the lyceum will also be appointed through a competitive process.

For the upcoming 2023/24 school year, the lyceum has welcomed its pioneer batch of 75 talented students. The institution offers not only education but also free accommodation and meals, guaranteeing that students can focus wholeheartedly on their studies without the burden of financial concerns. The financial support for the lyceum is drawn from the state budget, signifying the government's unwavering dedication to fostering educational excellence.

In his inaugural address, President Japarov emphasized the vast well of untapped talent within Kyrgyzstan's youth. He highlighted the significance of recognizing and nurturing these talents to their fullest potential, stressing that a robust system of support for gifted children is a critical component of national development.

"By opening such a lyceum, the state will take care of gifted children and help them discover their intellectual abilities, deepen their knowledge in the area they are interested in, and grow up to be multilaterally developed, people. This is an invaluable contribution to the development of our country. If we manage to identify gifted children from various corners of the country, who for one reason or another have remained unnoticed, and help them to further show their talents, the bright future of our country will be ensured," President Japarov stated.

The president also expressed his optimism that students admitted to the Akylman Lyceum would be able to focus solely on their academic pursuits. He urged them to embrace the opportunity, under the guidance of accomplished educators, to channel their energy into their studies, research, and intellectual growth.

"Under the guidance of professional teachers in the lyceum, they will pursue day and night only one goal — to study hard. After all, engaging in science, and making new discoveries and inventions is like digging a well with a needle. If the Akyilman project is successful, such nests of knowledge will be expanded," President Japarov enthused.

With the inauguration of the presidential lyceum, the nation's spotlight is firmly fixed on this pioneering institution. President Japarov urged educators to guide their students towards not only excelling within the confines of the lyceum but also becoming beacons of pride for the entire nation. He charged them with exploring international best practices, incorporating them into the curriculum, and ensuring that the lyceum contributes not only to academic brilliance but also to the nurturing of Kyrgyz cultural values.

The Akylman Lyceum is poised to become a powerhouse of education, fostering academic excellence, nurturing exceptional talents, and sowing the seeds of a brighter future for Kyrgyzstan. As the institution takes its first strides toward excellence, it is clear that President Japarov's vision is set to blossom into a legacy of knowledge, innovation, and progress for the nation.
