The Registan ensemble in Uzbekistan has claimed the title of the country's most highly-visited museum, attracting an impressive 1mn visitors, media reports.
Following closely behind in second place is the Samarkand State Museum-Reserve, which garnered 827,200 visitors, while the Bukhara State Museum-Reserve received 704,500 visitors, making it the third most popular museum in Uzbekistan.
Other notable attractions included the State Museum of Glory, which welcomed 627,300 visitors, and the State Museum-Reserve Ichan Kala, which received 403,100 visitors.
As of January 1, 2023, Uzbekistan boasts 134 museums, with seven new institutions opening in the past two years.
Earlier, Daryo reported that Uzbekistan had announced its plan to promote "halal" tourism, which caters specifically to the requirements of Muslim tourists. To achieve this goal, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism's Tourism Services Certification Center has entered into a memorandum of understanding with the World Halal Trust Group and the International Halal Certification Center MAIB.
