300 of Uzbekistan nationals have fallen victim to a deceitful scheme orchestrated by Turon World Cooperation, Report.uz reports.
The company falsely promised employment in Germany under the Ferienjob program but abruptly disappeared, leaving the unsuspecting individuals stranded and uncertain of their next steps. The extent of the deception is evident as these Uzbekistan citizens are now forced to sleep at train stations and wherever they can find refuge.
Uzbek journalist, blogger, TV presenter Nikita Makarenko expressed his dismay, emphasizing the breach of trust by their fellow countrymen and raising concerns about their future employment prospects.
Turon World Cooperation's license was suspended in June of 2022.
The victims were enticed by an individual named "Abdulloh," who posed as Sh.I., and were tricked into signing contracts with various legal entities, including World Shakhrisabz and Fuad Invest. Each person was charged between $700 and $1,000 for these services, resulting in a total collection of over $100,000. Shockingly, some deceived Uzbekistan citizens have been stranded at train stations since June 4th, directed to an address of a German company by the fraudulent organization, only to be turned away upon arrival.
While the Uzbekistan embassy and the Consulate General in Frankfurt have provided aid to 8 individuals who have been in the city since June 15, the plight of the remaining victims has only recently come to light, as noted by Makarenko.
Considering the financial burden they incurred in pursuit of employment opportunities in Germany, many of the affected Uzbekistan citizens are reluctant to return to their homeland. The scam has left them in a state of uncertainty and disappointment.
