China and Cuba have reportedly reached an agreement, as stated by The Wall Street Journal, wherein China will establish a surveillance base in Cuba to monitor activities in the United States.
In exchange for hosting the base, Cuba is expected to receive a substantial financial sum. The intended spy base, situated approximately 100 miles away from Florida, would enable Chinese intelligence agencies to intercept various communications from US military bases in the southeastern region, including emails, phone calls, and satellite communications, and potentially even observe the actions of American courts.
The construction of this base has raised concerns within the White House, as having a Chinese base with advanced technologies so close to the United States presents an unprecedented security threat. However, it remains uncertain whether the US administration can successfully persuade Cuba to reject the establishment of this base.
