Uzbekistan recorded 0.5% inflation in May 2023, which is twice as much as the same period last year. Consumer prices have risen by 3.8% since the beginning of the year, resulting in an annual inflation rate of 10.4%, the lowest in the past twelve months, the Statistics Agency of Uzbekistan reports.
In May, there was a 0.5% increase in consumer prices for goods, services, food, and non-food products. Food products experienced the highest price growth during the month, although the annual price growth for this category slowed down to 13%.
Earlier reports indicated a slowdown in price growth, resulting in a decrease in annual inflation to 11% in Uzbekistan.
Meanwhile, the last year's inflation rate was 11.4%. During the observation period from 2015 to 2022, the average inflation rate was 14.0% per year.
