The Ministers of Energy of Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan in a trilateral meeting in Tashkent discussed the implementation of the joint roadmap for the construction of the Kambarata HHP-1 project, Dunyo reports.
In particular, the heads of the governmental departments shared their views on the water and electric power supply situation in the Central Asian region, as well as the aspects of rational use of water resources.
Measures for the protection of the Toktokul reservoir during the summer irrigation period were discussed. Besides, the issues of transiting electricity to Kyrgyzstan through the energy systems of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, the supply of Kazakh and Uzbek electricity to Kyrgyzstan, the volume of water released during the growing season to agricultural consumers in Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan through the Uchkurgan hydroelectric power station were touched upon.
The next meeting is set to be held in Astana in October 2023. Earlier on January 6, the energy ministers of Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan signed a road map for the construction of the Kambarata HPP-1.
