Uzbekistan’s Foreign Minister Vladimir Norov on Tuesday (November 15) received the newly appointed US Ambassador to Uzbekistan Jonathan Henick. At the meeting, Ambassador handed copies of his credentials to the Minister. The head of Uzbekistan’s governmental department congratulated the envoy on his appointment and wished Jonathan Henick success in her new diplomatic mission.
According to Uzbekistan's Foreign Ministry, the parties discussed progress in implementing mutual agreements and the schedule of upcoming activities at the bilateral level and in the ‘C5+1’ format. Besides, the two sides highlighted the opportunities to increase trade and investment ties, attract US capital and technologies into the Uzbek economy, create joint ventures in textiles, pharmaceuticals, and energy, and strengthen financial interaction and other areas.
Particular focus was on the current situation in Afghanistan and the importance of increasing international assistance to the country.
