Some 81,900 tonnes of pomegranates were produced in Uzbekistan in 2021, by year-end this figure is expected to hit 109,100 tonnes.
Considering the soil and climate conditions of the regions, special attention is paid to specialization in pomegranate cultivation.
Currently, more than 30 varieties of pomegranate are being cultivated in Kuva district. The part of the grown crop that exceeds the domestic demand is exported to Korea, Russia and other countries.
With a total of 409 hectares and 56 pomegranate farms attached, the Kuva Pomegranate Agrofarm was established.
Gardeners in Kuva district, Fergana region are engaged in the localisation and propagation of the unusual seedless specie of pomegranate.
This pomegranate also differs from others in its taste. The seedless pomegranate specie is considered to be the third generation adapted to the soil and climate conditions of Uzbekistan, and now 50-100 kilograms of fruit are obtained from each bush.
