Shavkat Mirziyoyev discussed new projects and prospective programs of mutually beneficial cooperation with the President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the Uzbek President’s press secretary reports.
Erdogan congratulated the leader of Uzbekistan on the successful completion of the SCO summit and expressed gratitude for the invitation to participate as an honoured guest. The Turkic language state leaders exchanged views on issues of activation of multifaceted Uzbekistan-Turkey cooperation based on mutual respect, friendship and trust.
The parties noted that mutual dialogues have been significantly activated within the framework of the implementation of the agreements reached at the high-level meetings in Tashkent on March 29-30, 2022.
In 2021 alone, bilateral trade exceeded 60 %. The number of joint ventures has increased to over 2,000. In the past period of 2022 alone, about half a billion dollars of investments have been done.
Turkish companies are very interested in participating in the process of privatization of state-owned enterprises in Uzbekistan. It was agreed to implement new joint projects in the fields of agriculture, transport, electrical engineering, textile and leather industry, innovations, high technologies, tourism and culture.
The energy sector was singled out as a promising direction in implementing projects worth about 1 billion dollars. The meeting discussed future events, including the plan for the summit of the Organization of the Turkic States, which is planned to be held in Samarkand this year.
