The Uzbek ministries of Energy, Investment and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan and together with the Intersectoral Fund for Energy Saving, have developed the "Clean Energy for Buildings in Uzbekistan" project which will be funded by the World Bank Group, the Ministry of Energy's telegram channel cites.
To implement the project, the International Development Association (IDA), a member of the World Bank Group, will provide the Government of Uzbekistan with low-interest financing of $143 million, for a period of 30 years, including a five-year grace period.
The project is designed to play an important role in creating market incentives to attract investment in energy saving and energy efficiency in Uzbekistan.
The project that covers all regions of the country will comprise more than 800 public entities such as preschool education, public education and health.
The aim of the project is to improve the energy efficiency of public buildings, as well as procedures for attracting investment in projects that promote energy-saving and clean energy production.
