Kyrgyzstan to start China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway construction in October of 2024

Kyrgyzstan to start China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway construction in October of 2024

Kyrgyzstan's President Sadyr Japarov has announced plans to commence the construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway in October 2024 during his recent visit to the Osh region, kaktus.media reported on May 6.

This ambitious infrastructure project is poised to transform Kyrgyzstan's logistics landscape and position the country as a pivotal transit hub connecting East and West. Japarov highlighted the current logistical constraints faced by Kyrgyzstan, describing the nation as a "dead-end state" reliant on railway connections through Kazakhstan and Russia to access global markets. However, with the impending construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway, Kyrgyzstan will carve out its own pathway to international trade.

"This will be our own path,"

emphasized President Japarov, underscoring the significance of the railway in bolstering Kyrgyzstan's economic prospects and regional connectivity. Once operational, the railway will catalyze Kyrgyzstan's transformation into a vital transit country, facilitating seamless access to global markets via sea routes.

"We will become a transit country for the world,"

affirmed President Japarov, expressing optimism about the economic growth and development opportunities that the railway project will unlock. He envisioned a future where Kyrgyzstan's economy flourishes, enabling investments in critical sectors such as education and infrastructure.

Highlighting the strategic importance of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway, President Japarov emphasized its role in diversifying Kyrgyzstan's logistics capabilities and reducing dependency on neighboring countries for trade routes.

Earlier Daryo reported that President Mirziyoyev assessed the progress of China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway construction. Analysts foresee that this cross-regional transport route will not just advantage the trio of nations but also stimulate growth throughout Central Asia.
