Tourism exchanges between Uzbekistan and Georgia continued to strengthen in the first five months of 2026, with the number of Georgian visitors to Uzbekistan and Uzbek travelers to Georgia both recording double-digit growth compared with the same period last year.
According to the National Statistics Committee, 3,328 Georgian citizens visited Uzbekistan for tourism-related purposes between January and May 2026, representing a 31.7% increase compared with the corresponding period of 2025.
Leisure travel accounted for the largest share of visits, with 2,305 Georgian citizens traveling to Uzbekistan for tourism. Another 766 visited for business purposes, 254 traveled to visit relatives, and three arrived for educational purposes.
During the same period, 3,317 Uzbek citizens traveled to Georgia, up 21.6% year-on-year.
Most Uzbek visitors also traveled for tourism, with 2,993 trips recorded. In addition, 258 citizens visited relatives, 33 traveled for medical treatment, 25 for business purposes, and eight for education.
The latest tourism figures come as Uzbekistan and Georgia continue expanding bilateral cooperation. During Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze's recent visit to Tashkent, the two countries established a strategic partnership and agreed to increase bilateral trade to $1bn while signing agreements covering tourism, transport, digitalization, education, labor migration, and cultural cooperation.
