Uzbekistan received 950,278 foreign visitors for tourism purposes in January 2026, marking a 40% increase compared to the same period last year, according to the National Statistics Committee.
The figure represents a rise of 271,600 tourists year on year, reflecting continued growth in inbound travel at the start of 2026.
Kyrgyzstan accounted for the largest number of visitors, with 282,798 arrivals, followed by Tajikistan with 244,373 and Kazakhstan with 207,858. Russia ranked fourth with 69,070 tourists, while Afghanistan recorded 43,572 visitors.
Other key source markets also contributed steadily to the overall inflow of visitors. Turkmenistan accounted for 28,150 arrivals, followed by China with 25,666 tourists. Turkiye sent 12,740 visitors, while 6,095 Indians and 6,095 tourists from Republic of Korea visited Uzbekistan. This trend reflects Uzbekistan’s growing appeal across both neighboring countries and more distant Asian markets.
Earlier, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev established the 2,396-hectare Fergana Tourist Zone (PP-5) to develop tourism services, agritourism complexes and modern infrastructure as part of Uzbekistan’s goal to increase tourism revenue to $20bn by 2030.
The government has also mapped out large-scale infrastructure and cultural projects in Khiva, Urgench, Fergana, Bukhara and Tashkent aimed at strengthening transport connectivity, expanding accommodation capacity and supporting long-term tourism growth.
