The number of registered electric vehicles in Uzbekistan increased to 109,169 as of April 1, 2026, according to the National Statistics Committee, marking a 68% increase compared with the same period a year earlier.
The country's electric vehicle fleet expanded by 44,012 units over the year, rising from 65,157 registered vehicles on April 1, 2025, to 109,169.
Tashkent continued to account for the largest share of electric vehicles in the country, with 79,851 registered units. The capital represented approximately 73% of Uzbekistan's total electric vehicle fleet, compared with 76% a year earlier, indicating faster growth in other regions.
Among the regions, Samarkand recorded the highest growth rate. The number of registered electric vehicles increased from 1,739 to 4,525, a rise of 160%. Khorezm Region more than doubled its fleet, increasing from 1,415 to 3,042 vehicles, while Syrdarya Region nearly doubled its total, growing from 404 to 799 vehicles. Karakalpakstan exceeded 1,000 registered electric vehicles for the first time, reaching 1,010 units.
Changes were also recorded in the regional rankings. Kashkadarya Region increased its electric vehicle fleet from 1,338 to 2,611 units, overtaking Fergana Region to become the fourth-largest regional market. Navoi Region also moved ahead of Bukhara Region, with 1,756 registered electric vehicles compared with Bukhara's 1,685.
Tashkent Region recorded 8,194 electric vehicles, up from 4,512 a year earlier, while Fergana Region increased from 1,376 to 2,231 vehicles. Andijan Region registered 1,477 electric vehicles, Namangan Region 1,156, and Jizzakh Region 517.
Bukhara Region recorded the lowest annual growth among the regions, with the number of registered electric vehicles increasing by 49% from 1,133 to 1,685. Surkhandarya Region remained the smallest electric vehicle market in absolute terms, with 315 registered vehicles, although its fleet still expanded by 59% compared with the previous year.
