Uzbekistan will lease 4,000 hectares of agricultural land in Belarus to launch a livestock project, while also exporting 60,000 tons of agricultural products annually under new bilateral agreements, reports Dunyo.
The deals were reached during a visit by a delegation from the Kashkadarya region to Belarus, where discussions focused on expanding economic cooperation and building mutually beneficial production chains.
As part of the agreement, a large-scale cattle farming project will be implemented on the leased land, with the first phase involving around 1,000 head of cattle.
Uzbek representatives also visited livestock complexes and trade facilities in Belarus’s Vitebsk (Vitsyebsk) region, including Braslav, Shumilin, and Pastavy districts, to study local practices and explore cooperation opportunities.
In parallel, an export agreement was signed between Uzbek company "Asl Yuksalish Savdo" and Belarusian retail network "Dobronom", providing for the annual supply of 60,000 tons of agricultural products.
Exported goods will include dried fruits, legumes, melons, and grapes, with the agreement expected to strengthen food supply chains and increase trade volumes between the two countries.
Beyond economic cooperation, the parties also discussed expanding humanitarian ties, including plans to organize familiarization trips for tourism sector representatives to boost tourist flows.
In addition, during a meeting with Yuri Senko, head of the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus, support was expressed for staging performances by the Kashkadarya regional theater in Minsk.
The agreements build on broader efforts by Uzbekistan and Belarus to deepen economic cooperation, including plans to increase bilateral trade turnover to $2bn by 2030 through joint industrial and agricultural projects, as well as ongoing discussions to expand investment partnerships and streamline trade logistics.
