The Minister of Investment, Industry, and Trade of Uzbekistan, Laziz Kudratov, held a meeting with Ivan Krupko, Chairman of the Gomel Regional Executive Committee of the Republic of Belarus, on March 24, during the visit of the Gomel region delegation to Uzbekistan.
During the negotiations, both parties expressed readiness to expand cooperation in priority sectors, including industrial engineering, agriculture, and the jewelry industry. Specific areas of discussion included new joint projects in woodworking, meat and dairy production, and agricultural machinery.
Trade between the Gomel region and Uzbekistan has shown growth. By the end of 2025, trade turnover reached $50mn, and in January 2026, a 1.5-fold increase in trade turnover was recorded.
Following the meeting, an agreement was reached to develop and adopt a joint Action Plan for further cooperation. Plans were also made to organize a visit of an Uzbek delegation to the Republic of Belarus to elaborate on new initiatives and strengthen bilateral collaboration.
Earlier Daryo reported that Uzbekistan and Belarus aim to increase trade turnover to $2bn by 2030, Belarusian Prime Minister Alexander Turchin announced during his official visit to Uzbekistan on February 23. The following day, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with Turchin to discuss expanding bilateral cooperation and implementing previously agreed-upon high-level agreements.
