Representatives of Uzbekistan and Belarus held talks aimed at strengthening bilateral industrial cooperation and expanding joint investment projects, as per to information released following a meeting at Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade (MIIT).
The meeting took place on February 23 between Deputy Minister of MIIT, Khurram Teshabayev and Deputy Minister of Industry of Belarus Denis Bakei.
During the discussions, the parties reviewed the implementation of ongoing joint projects and outlined additional measures to deepen cooperation between the two countries’ industrial sectors. The sides also considered the development of a Roadmap for Industrial Cooperation through 2030, which is expected to define priority areas for future collaboration.
Particular attention was given to projects in:
- poultry farming,
- assembly of agricultural machinery,
- cable production.
These sectors were identified as areas with potential for expanding joint manufacturing capacity and technology exchange.
The meeting also addressed the development of bilateral investment cooperation, including the activities and expansion of joint ventures operating in both countries. Officials discussed mechanisms to support investment partnerships and improve coordination between businesses.
According to presented data, 244 enterprises with Belarusian capital are currently operating in Uzbekistan, while 229 enterprises with Uzbek capital operate in Belarus.
Companies with joint participation are engaged across multiple sectors, including:
- textile manufacturing,
- pharmaceutical production,
- construction materials manufacturing,
- leather goods production,
- trade intermediation,
- freight forwarding and logistics services.
Earlier Daryo reported that Belarusian Ambassador to Uzbekistan Alexander Ogorodnikov and Brest Free Economic Zone Administration Head Vadim Kravchuk met with Roksana Nesor, Deputy Director of Uzbekistan’s Investment Promotion Agency, to discuss expanding bilateral investment cooperation, including plans to establish an STiM road-marking materials production facility in one of Uzbekistan’s free economic zones. The parties also signed a cooperation agreement aimed at supporting joint investment projects between Uzbekistan and Belarus.
