President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has decreed the establishment of the Fergana Tourist Zone (PP-5), as per to the Ministry of Justice’s legal information channel posted on January 12. The new tourist and recreational zone will cover an area of 2,396 hectares in the Fergana Region and will operate under a special regime for 30 years, with the possibility of future extension.
Development plans for the zone include organizing tourism services and creating employment opportunities along the banks of the Central Fergana Reservoir in Yazyavan District. In the Fergana District, a tourist complex will be developed based on the existing Vodiil raspberry cultivation cluster. The project will involve the construction of necessary infrastructure for visitors, as well as the installation of lightweight service facilities within the orchards and plantations.
Additional agritourism complexes are planned for the Sanoat and Khosilot mahallas, incorporating international expertise. These complexes will include raspberry plantations, cold storage facilities, and advanced processing plants for local agricultural products.
The establishment of the Fergana Tourist Zone aligns with broader national tourism development goals. In his December address to the Oliy Majlis and the people of Uzbekistan, President Mirziyoyev set a target of increasing the volume of tourism services to $20bn by 2030. This strategic plan also includes launching the first phase of the Gelon tourist complex near Shakhrisabz and opening the Arashan mountain recreation area in the Namangan Region.
