President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on October 21, attended the ceremony for the second phase of the IT Park project in Tashkent’s Mirzo Ulugbek district, marking a step in Uzbekistan’s ambition to become a leading digital economy in Central Asia.
The first phase of the project, completed two years ago with a $200mn investment, saw the construction of six 20-25-story office buildings and a modern congress hall across a 4-hectare site. The park has since developed into a vibrant ecosystem that supports specialists and startups through incubation and acceleration programs in areas such as information technology, fintech, logistics, e-commerce, education, and biotechnology.
Today, the IT Park is home to over 3,200 resident companies employing more than 14,000 specialists. In 2024, they provided IT services worth $1.6bn, with this figure expected to surpass $2.5bn by year’s end. For the first time, exports are projected to exceed $1bn.
Under the “Uzbekistan – 2030” strategy, the government aims to create over 300,000 high-paying jobs in the information technology sector. International experts estimate Uzbekistan’s potential in artificial intelligence alone at around $10bn.
“I am confident that this large complex, the cornerstone of which is being laid today, will play an important role in achieving the ambitious goals we have set for ourselves, as well as in further strengthening the beneficial cooperation between investors and Uzbekistan,” President Mirziyoyev stated at the ceremony.
The second phase of the project will expand the IT Park’s area by 1.5 times. A key component is the construction of a 12-megawatt data center, worth $150mn, in partnership with Saudi Arabian company DataVolt. Future phases plan an additional $3bn investment to increase capacity to 500 megawatts.
The upcoming expansion will include six new buildings, the Artificial Intelligence Center, the Space and Future Technologies Centers, two 20-story office towers, and service and shopping facilities.
Once completed, the complex will serve as an “Artificial Intelligence Hub,” integrating cutting-edge technologies, innovation, and research to drive Uzbekistan’s digital transformation.
President Mirziyoyev officially launched construction by placing a symbolic capsule, signaling the start of a new chapter in the country’s technological development.
