Uzbekistan and Singapore explored opportunities for joint projects in artificial intelligence, venture capital, data processing centers, smart cities, digital infrastructure, and education during a roundtable with representatives of Singapore's leading businesses and international companies.
The event, hosted by the Singapore Business Federation, brought together executives and representatives of Wilmar International, Indorama Corporation, Singapore Technologies Engineering, Meta, Franklin Templeton, StoneX, Meinhardt, Quest Ventures, Investbanq, Global Finance & Technology Network, TASCA, and other companies.
According to Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov, discussions focused on implementing practical projects in technology-driven sectors that support Uzbekistan's economic modernization and digital transformation agenda.
Representatives of Singapore's business community reportedly praised Uzbekistan's ongoing economic reforms, efforts to improve the investment climate, expansion of the digital economy, industrial development initiatives, and adoption of advanced technologies.
The roundtable was accompanied by a series of high-level meetings between the Uzbek delegation and Singaporean officials.
During talks with Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, the sides discussed expanding cooperation in education, digital transformation, finance, innovation, and public administration. Saidov noted that Uzbekistan sees strong alignment between Singapore's development model and the wide-ranging reforms currently being implemented in the country.
Separate discussions with Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan focused on increasing trade and investment cooperation, encouraging closer engagement between business communities, expanding the portfolio of joint projects, and preparing for the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Uzbekistan and Singapore in 2027.
The ministers also exchanged views on regional and international developments, while emphasizing the importance of strengthening dialogue between Central Asia and Southeast Asia and deepening cooperation with ASEAN.
In a meeting with Minister for Sustainability and the Environment Grace Fu, the sides discussed climate change, green economy initiatives, and efficient water resource management. Uzbekistan highlighted Singapore's experience in environmental sustainability and innovative resource management as particularly valuable.
