Thermal Power Plants is advancing Tashkent’s energy infrastructure with the launch of a new cogeneration plant in the Sergeli district. Currently undergoing testing and commissioning, the new facility, located in the O'zgarish mahalla, will play a crucial role in providing residents with stable heat and electricity.

In partnership with the Turkish company Iltekno, this state-of-the-art cogeneration plant will simultaneously generate 2.3 MW of electricity and 11 Gcal of thermal energy. With construction nearly completed at 98%, the project aims to enhance the energy efficiency of the district.
The new facility will feature modern equipment, including a German-made gas-piston unit and two Bosch heating boilers. This cutting-edge technology will result in significant energy savings, cutting down 220,000 cubic meters of natural gas annually, while also reducing harmful emissions into the atmosphere.
Once operational in April, the plant is expected to generate 18.4mn kWh of electricity and 46,000 Gcal of heat per year, benefiting 51 apartment buildings, a school, a preschool, a social sector facility, and local businesses in the surrounding area.
The cogeneration initiative is part of a broader effort by Thermal Power Plants to introduce modern energy solutions across Tashkent’s neighborhoods. As per the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers No. 23 from January 20, 2023, similar projects have been successfully implemented in the Chilonzor and Almazar districts, with plans to expand the technology to 11 other neighborhoods at the edge of Tashkent’s heat supply system.
