Tatarstan has expressed interest in hiring 10,000 labor migrants from Uzbekistan, following a new memorandum of cooperation signed between the Migration Agency of Uzbekistan and the Alabuga Special Economic Zone (SEZ), the agency’s press service reported.

As part of this initiative, Director of the Migration Agency Bekhzod Musayev visited the Alabuga SEZ to meet with Uzbek workers currently employed there. He inspected their working, living, and food conditions. At present, 1,150 Uzbek citizens are employed in the economic zone.
Following negotiations, both sides agreed to allocate an additional quota for 10,000 Uzbek specialists. The Migration Agency will facilitate recruitment by announcing job vacancies through an open competition.
This development builds on previous cooperation between Uzbekistan and Alabuga SEZ. In October 2023, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed a project proposal for the establishment of a special economic zone in the Bukhara region, prepared by Alabuga SEZ in Kazan. Initially, the project aimed to attract around 20 resident enterprises.
Further collaboration discussions took place in November 2023, when it was reported that Russian SEZs Alabuga and Khimgrad were considering launching projects in Karakalpakstan. Among the proposed sites was a former cotton terminal in Nukus.
Established in 2006, Alabuga SEZ is one of Russia’s leading industrial zones, offering investors access to fully developed infrastructure, as well as tax and customs incentives.
