Uzbekistan has extended zero import duties on 59 categories of goods, including essential food items and other products, until January 1, 2026. The decision, signed by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on December 27, is part of ongoing measures to stabilize prices in domestic markets and promote fair competition.
The decree builds on earlier measures introduced in May 2022 and March 2023 that aimed to reduce import costs for critical goods and ensure their affordability for Uzbek consumers. The list of goods includes a variety of food products, personal care items, and other essentials.
Key Categories Covered:
- Food Products: Fresh, frozen, and processed meat, fish, eggs, dairy products, and oils.
- Fruits and Vegetables: Apples, bananas, citrus fruits, onions, and dried fruits.
- Other Essentials: Pasta, bread, canned goods, and children’s clothing and footwear.
The government claims that the zero-duty policy aims to support businesses, promote fair competition, and ease the financial burden on households by maintaining accessible prices for essential goods.
