Uzbekistan's Foreign Minister, Bakhtiyor Saidov, addressed the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly, delivering a message of peace and prosperity on behalf of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to UN leadership, heads of state, and delegations.
In his speech, Saidov stressed the pressing need for stronger international cooperation amidst escalating global crises. He highlighted urgent issues such as climate change, poverty, and technological inequality, urging the international community to unite in their resolution.
During the session, Uzbekistan proposed several initiatives aimed at reforming the international financial system to empower developing nations and ensuring equal access to technology for all. Saidov emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts in combating climate change, particularly in vulnerable regions like Central Asia.
Moreover, the Foreign Minister stressed the importance of enhancing the rights and opportunities of women and youth, expanding transportation corridors within and beyond Central Asia, and unifying efforts against terrorism. He also proposed the transformation of Uzbekistan's educational center in Termez, currently offering training for Afghan citizens, into a Global Training Hub.
“We are honored to speak at the 79th session of the UN General Assembly,” Saidov stated. “President Shavkat Mirziyoyev conveyed best wishes of peace and prosperity to the UN leadership and all participating delegations. In a world increasingly marked by unrest, we call for closer global cooperation to tackle pressing challenges such as climate change, poverty, and technological disparity. Our commitment to sustainable development and active participation in ensuring peace and stability in Central Asia remain our core priorities.”
