Kazakhstan’s Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov has approved the transfer of full ownership of ATMA – Airport Atyrau and Transportation, which manages Atyrau Airport, to the Qatari firm QazAir Investments.
Situated in Kazakhstan’s oil-rich western area, Atyrau Airport has been in operation since 1979, providing domestic and international flights to destinations such as Türkiye, Egypt, Georgia, Russia, and the Netherlands.
According to the new agreement, QazAir Investments will obtain full ownership of ATMA’s shares. Although the details of the deal remain undisclosed, the government decree ensures that QazAir will have complete control of the airport.
QazAir Investments, a Doha-based company registered under the Qatar Financial Centre (QFC), is a Limited Liability Company (LLC) with a registered capital of $1,000 and an equity capital of $300,000. The company is led by Abraham Daniel Danino, a former executive at SAS Red Valley, a concierge services firm.
This acquisition is anticipated to improve Atyrau International Airport’s connectivity with global destinations, create new job opportunities, and foster regional economic development, underscoring its potential impact on Kazakhstan's oil sector and broader regional growth.
