Samsung Electronics Central Eurasia has signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Kazakhstan to assist in the digitalization of the Kazakh army. This collaboration is part of Kazakhstan's broader strategy to modernize its national security infrastructure through advanced technological solutions.
Adoption of Military Tablets and Smartphones
Under the memorandum, Samsung will provide high-tech solutions, including mobile tablets and smartphones equipped with built-in hardware and software protection mechanisms that comply with international military standards. These devices can also be remotely controlled, enhancing their security and usability for military purposes. The Ministry of Defense plans to utilize these innovations to improve the training efficiency of the Kazakh ground forces.
Digitalization Efforts
Kazakhstan's government has been focusing on digitalizing its Armed Forces to enhance operational efficiency. Deputy Minister of Defense Darkhan Ahmadiev, who is leading these transformation initiatives, emphasized the importance of digital tools in increasing the army's efficiency. One significant project already underway is the "Digital Military Commissariat," which digitizes conscription activities, saving over a billion budget tenge annually. Other initiatives include digitalizing event planning and analyzing combat training results, simplifying these processes through an information platform.
Role of Military Tablets
Military-style tablets with specialized software will play a crucial role in these digitalization efforts. These tablets will enable officers to input data on unit combat training directly into the department’s new information system, providing management with easy access to this data for analysis and strategic decision-making. The project will be implemented by Kazakhstan GIS Center, a subsidiary of the Ministry of Defense and the single operator of the country's information and communication infrastructure.
Beyond the initial projects, potential future initiatives include digitizing unit navigation, optimizing command and control processes, and integrating mobile solutions with drones and sensors for intelligence purposes. These innovations aim to further enhance the operational capabilities of the Kazakh military.
As part of the memorandum, all employees of the Ministry of Defense and its subordinate organizations will have access to Samsung's electronic corporate store. This will allow them to purchase Samsung equipment at special rates directly from the manufacturer, similar to the benefits enjoyed by other partners.
