China Datang Corporation, a state-owned enterprise, has announced plans to construct a solar power plant in Tajikistan's Sughd region with a capacity of up to 500 megawatts (MW), TASS reports.
The proposed solar power plant aims to enhance Tajikistan's renewable energy infrastructure. This initiative supports Tajikistan's efforts to diversify its energy sources and increase sustainable energy production.
Rajabboy Ahmadzoda, head of the Sughd region, met with Wang Hao, general director of China Datang Corporation in Central Asia. Ahmadzoda expressed readiness to cooperate with the Chinese investor on green energy projects.
Ahmadzoda also discussed with specialists from the Beijing Scientific Research and Technical Institute, who will conduct feasibility studies for constructing two new railway lines in the Sughd region, from Spitamen to Istaravshan and Istiklol, spanning 171 kilometers. This project aims to improve the region's transportation infrastructure.
Wang Hao also met with Davlatali Said, head of the Khatlon region administration. Wang Hao shared plans to establish a solar cell plant in the region to produce clean energy.
Founded in 2002, China Datang Corporation specializes in electric power, coal, and chemical industries. The corporation operates in various provinces in China and internationally, including Uzbekistan, Singapore, and Laos. Its total generating capacity exceeds 180 gigawatts (GW).
