The Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation of Kazakhstan and the Kingdom of the Netherlands have signed bilateral memoranda. The signing ceremony, attended by key dignitaries including Minister Nurzhan Nurzhigitov and Ambassador Nico Schermers, marks a milestone in the strategic partnership between the two nations.
The first memorandum, a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation of Kazakhstan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands, outlines a framework for collaboration in various aspects of water management. This includes cooperation in the construction and utilization of water facilities, flood forecasting, and the planning of flood control measures.
Additionally, the memorandum facilitates the exchange of expertise in the regulation and utilization of floodwaters, as well as the study of the Netherlands' renowned expertise in river flow management.
The second memorandum, inked with the prestigious Delft Institute of Water Education (IHE Delft), is geared towards enhancing human capital in the water industry. It paves the way for the training of specialists and fosters collaboration in scientific research and innovative technologies within the water sector.
"Today's meeting is an important stage in our relations with the Netherlands. I am confident that our cooperation will help implement large-scale and promising projects, and the exchange of experience and technology will allow us to unlock the potential of the domestic water sector," Minister Nurzhigitov remarked.
The Netherlands holds a prominent position as the largest investor in Kazakhstan's economy, with direct investments exceeding $120bn. This collaboration in water management further strengthens the existing ties between the two countries and sets the stage for the implementation of ambitious joint projects.
