Kyrgyzstan saw more than 12,000 of its citizens secure jobs abroad in 2023, with the help of the Center for Employment of Citizens Abroad and private agencies. Bakyt Kudaiberdiev, the centre's head, discussed these numbers during an interview on Birinchi Radio.
Kudaiberdiev noted a notable interest among Kyrgyz citizens in working in the UK. He mentioned that the UK attracts individuals for seasonal work, with no language requirement other than Russian. However, due to quotas set by the British government, which limit the number of entrants to 10,000 per year, not everyone who desires to work in the UK can do so.
For the past 17 years, the centre also facilitated employment in South Korea, with over 5,000 people employed there during this period. Presently, 1,500 Kyrgyzstanis are working in South Korea.
Kudaiberdiev highlighted that 165 private employment agencies are operating in the Kyrgyz Republic, facilitating employment for Kyrgyzstanis in over 25 countries worldwide. These countries mainly include European and Persian Gulf nations.
