Plans to construct a hydroelectric power station (HPP) in the eastern region of Kazakhstan have emerged following discussions between Nurlan Zhakupov, Chairman of Samruk-Kazyna, and executives from Nebras Power, a prominent energy conglomerate based in Qatar. The project, which is set to be situated along the Irtysh River, aims to generate up to 350 MW of electricity.
Fund’s Telegram channel reports that, Zhakupov revealed that Samruk-Energo is currently engaged in developing a preliminary feasibility study for the HPP initiative. The completion of this study is slated for September of the ongoing year, wherein the preliminary cost of the project will also be determined.

The project, set to be executed through joint financing, underscores Nebras Power's commitment to advancing sustainable energy solutions in collaboration with strategic partners.
