Telegram revolutionizes content monetization with sticker tokenization and donations
Telegram's founder Pavel Durov announced at the Token 2049 conference in Dubai the introduction of sticker tokenization and channel author donations. This groundbreaking initiative aims to empower creators and reshape content monetization on the platform.
Authors of public channels with 1000+ subscribers can earn income from advertising, with Telegram pledging to share 50% of the proceeds via the TON blockchain's Toncoin cryptocurrency.
Soon, Telegram plans to tokenize stickers, enabling creators to sell them as NFTs. Owners stand to earn 95% of the sales revenue, offering a lucrative opportunity for digital artists.
In addition, Telegram is introducing donations for channel authors, facilitated through the TON blockchain. However, due to Apple and Google payment restrictions, a 30% commission will be levied. Nonetheless, this feature fosters community support for creators.
Looking ahead, Telegram aims to launch an in-app e-commerce store, allowing users to purchase digital goods and services. Developers will retain 70% of the proceeds, further diversifying revenue streams.
