Israil Madrimov, the current holder of the WBA belt, may be poised to enter the ring against Terence Crawford, the reigning champion across multiple federations. Terence Crawford commands an impressive array of titles, including those from the WBC, WBA, and WBO, all within the -66.7 kg weight class. Presently, his attention seems directed towards a potential matchup with Madrimov, who holds the WBA belt in the -69.9 kg weight division.
The upcoming fight between Crawford and Madrimov is rumoured to be slated for August 3, with Los Angeles emerging as the probable host city. This fight is set to be part of a landmark boxing evening, marking the inaugural tournament under the auspices of Turki Al-Sheikh, the chairman of Saudi Arabia’s General Sports Authority (GSA).
Madrimov's potential entry into the ring with Crawford follows his decisive victory over Russian contender Magomed Kurbanov in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where he secured the WBA belt with a commanding fifth-round knockout.
Similarly, Crawford's rise to boxing prominence was underscored by his triumph over Errol Spence in July 2023, where he secured the IBF, WBA Super, WBC, and WBO belts.
