President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan and President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan held a joint briefing for media representatives, following extensive discussions and the signing of agreements on March 11, Akorda reported.
President Tokayev commenced by lauding Azerbaijan as a strategic partner for Kazakhstan, emphasizing the profound significance of his official visit to Baku.
"This state visit is extremely important from the point of view of the further development of cooperation between our states," affirmed President Tokayev, highlighting the meticulously prepared nature of the bilateral discussions and the resultant success.
The leaders discussed the intensifying global competition for access to transport and logistics opportunities, emphasizing the strategic significance of their collaboration in this domain. The inauguration of the railway route from the port of Xi’an through Kazakhstan to Azerbaijan was hailed as a landmark achievement, signifying enhanced connectivity and trade facilitation between the nations. Moreover, discussions encompassed joint initiatives in digitalization, artificial intelligence, and the establishment of fiber-optic communications across the Caspian Sea, underscoring the breadth and depth of their collaboration.
President Tokayev underscored the importance of cultural and humanitarian exchange, expressing gratitude for Azerbaijan's hosting of the "Days of Culture of Kazakhstan" and expressing eagerness to reciprocate the gesture. He emphasized the enduring interest of the Kazakhstani populace in Azerbaijani culture, affirming the vitality of cultural bonds in fostering mutual understanding and friendship.
Furthermore, both leaders emphasized the significance of bolstering cooperation within multilateral frameworks, including the United Nations, OSCE, and CICA, reflecting their commitment to sustained international engagement and strategic partnership.
In response, President Aliyev expressed appreciation for President Tokayev's visit and lauded the outcomes of their deliberations. He highlighted the Trans-Caspian transport corridor as a tangible manifestation of regional cooperation, emphasizing the pivotal role of collaboration in fostering transit and connectivity.
“Both Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan demonstrate their commitment to regional cooperation and strengthening their relations with their neighbors. Only the Caspian Sea separates us. But today this is not an obstacle. On the contrary, the Caspian Sea is a bridge not only between our countries but also between many countries, because the Trans-Caspian transport route is today revealing its full potential,” President Aliyev voiced.
The joint briefing culminated in the signing of several key agreements aimed at fortifying bilateral ties and fostering mutual prosperity. These agreements encompassed various sectors including transportation, education, culture, energy, and information security, signifying a comprehensive commitment to multifaceted cooperation and development.
