Musabbeh Al Kaabi, Abu Dhabi National Oil Company's (ADNOC) Executive Director of Low Carbon Solutions & International Growth Directorate, met with the management of Turkmengaz State Concern in Ashgabat. The UAE Embassy in Turkmenistan reports that the meeting discussed prospects for cooperation between the parties.
The two companies recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) which states the parties to attract strategic partners for the development of the third phase of Galkynysh, the world's second largest gas field.
Experts told Daryo that Galkynysh is one of the main sources of gas supplies to China and a potential feedstock base for the pipeline under construction to South Asia and a project under discussion to Europe via the Caspian Sea. The total reserves of this gas hotspot and nearby fields are estimated at 27.4tn cubic metres. The forecast was made with the participation of the British company GaffneyCline.
According to the Memorandum, ADNOC will also explore the possibility of its participation in the implementation of energy projects related to the construction of infrastructure to supply natural gas to countries in the region and beyond.
In addition, the parties plan to explore potential partnership opportunities in the field of reducing methane emissions into the atmosphere.
