The President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, welcomed the Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to Kazakhstan, Mohammed Saeed Mohammed Al Ariqi, Akorda reported. The discussions focused on the practical implementation of previously agreed-upon initiatives, highlighting the ongoing efforts to strengthen the ties between the two nations.
The trade and economic relationship between Kazakhstan and the UAE took center stage during the meeting, with both parties reiterating their commitment to increasing trade volumes to $1bn in the near future. The president emphasized the significance of this economic partnership and the shared goal of fostering mutually beneficial cooperation.
In accordance with the Joint Declaration on Strategic Investment Projects, the leaders discussed the importance of expanding collaboration in key sectors such as energy, agriculture, transport, and logistics. President Tokayev commended the progress made in these areas and underlined the necessity of aligning efforts to meet the objectives outlined in the joint declaration.
One notable highlight of the discussions was the positive development in cooperation with the Emirati company Masdar. The president expressed satisfaction with the high dynamics of joint projects in the field of renewable energy sources. Additionally, he acknowledged the commencement of investment projects with AD Ports Group and Terminals Holding, aiming to enhance the transport and logistics network and air transportation services.
The meeting also addressed the crucial role of information technology in advancing bilateral relations. Both sides recognized the potential for collaboration in this field and explored avenues for further interaction.
In recognition of Ambassador Mohammed Saeed Mohammed Al Ariqi's outstanding contributions to strengthening friendship and cooperation between Kazakhstan and the UAE, President Tokayev conferred upon him a high state award – the Order of Dostyk (Order of Friendship), II degree. This prestigious award, introduced in 1995, is bestowed upon individuals for their fruitful activity in promoting international and civil consensus, as well as their merits in advancing peace, friendship, and cooperation between peoples.
