On November 9, Shavkat Mirziyoyev engaged in discussions with Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi during the Economic Cooperation Organization Summit in Tashkent, the President's press service reports.
The meeting centered on fortifying Uzbekistan-Iran relations and broadening practical collaboration in trade, investments, innovations, and transport. The ongoing active dialogues and the positive trajectory of bilateral trade growth and cooperative projects across various economic sectors were acknowledged with satisfaction. Both leaders emphasized the full implementation of previously agreed-upon commitments at the highest level.
The report underscored the existing opportunities to enhance mutually beneficial cooperation, particularly in industrial collaboration, localization, agriculture, and logistics. Additionally, there was a recognition of the significance of fostering cultural, humanitarian, and scientific exchanges. The leaders delved into regional matters, including the current situation in Afghanistan.
Earlier reports indicated that Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi, accompanied by his wife Jamileh Alamolhoda, had arrived in Tashkent. Notably, other leaders, including the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov, the Prime Minister of Pakistan Anwar ul Haq Kakar, the President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov, the President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, had also reached the capital to participate in the OIC summit chaired by Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
