Turkey is set to declare Israel a war criminal before the entire international community, announced Turkish President Recep Erdoğan during a massive pro-Palestine rally at Istanbul's Ataturk Airport.
According to "Regnim", Erdoğan asserted, "We will declare Israel a war criminal and inform the international community; we are already working on it."
He labeled Israel as an occupier and a group while adding that the Palestinian movement, Hamas, is not a terrorist organization.
President Erdoğan had earlier called on Israel to immediately cease the "state of madness" and halt its attacks on Gaza. He emphasized that the continuous Israeli airstrikes on Gaza, which escalated the previous night, have once again targeted women, children, and innocent civilians, deepening the humanitarian crisis.
President Erdoğan arrived at the pro-Palestine rally via helicopter. Notably, the helicopter carrying the Turkish leader circled the Ataturk Airport in Istanbul, where the pro-Palestine rally took place. Over a million people were expected to participate in the rally.
Previously, the President of the Republic of Turkey had called upon the country's citizens to attend the rally, where they would collectively express their support for the Palestinian people and denounce the "Israeli oppression." According to reports, Turkey had invited foreign leaders, including those from Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Libya, Lebanon, and Jordan, to the upcoming rally.
It was reported earlier that around 5,000 US military personnel had been involved in Israel's ground operation in Gaza, which took place on the night of October 27.
Former Pentagon chief adviser, Colonel Douglas MacGregor, stated that if Israel were to embark on a full-scale ground operation in the Gaza Strip, Turkey might enter the conflict on the side of Hamas.
