As part of his working trip to the Jalal-Abad region, the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, Sadyr Japarov, marked a significant occasion for the city of Jalal-Abad by handing over new buses and cars to the local administration. This event coincided with the celebration of Jalal-Abad's City Day, commemorating the city's 146th anniversary.
In a speech delivered during the event, President Japarov emphasized the importance of this day for Jalal-Abad. The celebration began with the raising of the national flag on a 50-meter-high flagpole on Mount Ayub-Too. The president highlighted that such traditions inspire local residents and attract visitors to the city.
President Japarov also outlined his government's commitment to developing cities across the nation, bringing them in line with the status they deserve. He mentioned a special plan to transform Jalal-Abad into a major economic center, allocating KGS 2bn ($22.4mn) to support this initiative. The transformation includes improvements in infrastructure, with a particular focus on internal road repairs and creating more comfortable conditions for the city's population.
One of the major highlights of the day was the presentation of 50 new buses, which will soon be in service within the city. The passenger transport fleet of Jalal-Abad has not been updated since 2012, and many of the existing buses have become outdated and unreliable. The introduction of these new, convenient, and comfortable buses is expected to ease the daily commute for hundreds of thousands of citizens, boost local treasury revenues, and facilitate socio-economic development in the region.
“It is important to consider that public transport is of great importance in the socio-economic development of the region. Therefore, this year we began updating public transport, which is a daily necessity for hundreds of thousands of citizens. Now new buses will ease the burden of citizens and will bring income to the local treasury. Almost all the central streets of the city of Jalal-Abad have been repaired, and conditions have been created for comfortable movement of buses on the city’s roads,” the President stated.
President Japarov also recognized the significance of public transport in the region's development. He stressed that the state should provide the necessary conditions for all industries to thrive before expecting significant achievements. Additionally, the President announced that new cars were being provided to the Jalal-Abad Regional Court and the regional police department to enhance their efficiency and ability to serve the residents.
In his closing remarks, President Sadyr Japarov once again extended his heartfelt congratulations to the citizens of Jalal-Abad on the occasion of City Day, wishing the capital of the Jalal-Abad region prosperity and well-being.
After the official handover of the new vehicles, President Japarov inspected a festive fair organized in honor of the city's anniversary, highlighting the city's rich culture and history.
