Kazakhstan's government has pledged to provide humanitarian assistance to the province of Afghanistan, which was recently devastated by a powerful earthquake. The Central Asia country's Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov announced that food, medical supplies, tents, and other essential items will be delivered to the affected areas as part of the relief efforts.
In addition, rescue teams from Kazakhstan will be dispatched to assist with clearing debris in the affected regions.
The earthquake, which measured 6.2 on the Richter scale, struck near the city of Herat on October 7, resulting in the deaths of over 2,400 people and the destruction of 15 villages.
Earlier, Daryo reported that Uzbekistan's Foreign Ministry had conveyed its sympathy to the families of those who lost their lives in the recent earthquake in the neighboring country and expressed deep sorrow upon learning of the earthquake's devastating impact on the western regions of Afghanistan.
