The President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, has given instructions to commission Astana's existing gas thermal stations in a phased manner to tackle the city's top three problems: heat, light, and water. He emphasized the importance of ensuring high-quality projects that meet the city's needs without any interruptions as it affects the country's reputation and image.
During his visit, the Mayor of Astana, Zhenis Kassymbek, informed the President about the launch of the water supply from the Astana reservoir and the pumping and filtering station. The construction of a water supply from the Nurinsky underground water field, with a capacity of 48,000 cubic meters per day, and the expansion of the pumping station "Telman" to 160,000 cubic meters per day will be completed by November.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev stressed the need to find additional sources of water due to the city's active population growth and instructed the timely completion of new heat supply facilities.
The construction of the "South-East" and the first stage of the "Turan" gas thermal stations with a total capacity of 700 Giga calories per hour is completed, providing heat supply to areas of intensive construction and the new development left bank of the city.
The city will benefit from an additional thermal capacity of 1,140 Giga calories per hour with the completion of Heat and Power Plant-3 by the end of the year. The construction of the second stage of the "Turan" gas thermal station and the new "Telman" gas thermal station will provide an additional 850 Giga calories per hour. The construction company has agreements with the gas equipment manufacturer for localizing the production of gas thermal stations in Kazakhstan.
