On September 26, the verdict related to the case of the Telegram channel Kompromatuzb was announced in the Shaykhontokhur District Court of Uzbekistan, as reported by the Supreme Court's press service.
Here are the details of the verdict:
- Hurshid Daliev has been sentenced to 7 years of imprisonment and deprived of the right to engage in journalistic activities for 3 years.
- Siyavush Hashimov has been sentenced to 7 years of imprisonment and deprived of the right to engage in journalistic activities for 3 years.
- Mavzhuda Mirzaeva has been sentenced to 5 years of restricted freedom and deprived of the right to engage in journalistic activities for 3 years.
- Ahmadullo Ahmadjonov has been sentenced to 3 years of restricted freedom.
Additionally, they are obligated to pay compensation to the victims.
Those dissatisfied with this verdict are informed that they have the right to file an appeal with the Criminal Division of the Tashkent City Court within the procedural deadlines and in accordance with the established legal procedures. The prosecutor also has the right to lodge a protest.
The 'kompromat.uzb Case'
In January, the director of Human.uz, Hurshid Daliev, the chief editor Muslim Mirzajonov, and other employees of the website were arrested. According to authorities, the journalists were involved in extortion and the sale of 'negative coverage blocks' (intentional non-coverage of provocative topics). Some other individuals working in state organizations could also have been detained in connection with the same case.
