On September 20, Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with the President of the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA), Gianni Infantino, in New York City, the President's press service reported.
State leader Shavkat Mirziyoyev sincerely congratulated FIFA President Gianni Infantino on the successful conduct of the 2023 Women's World Cup. Uzbekistan and FIFA have established a fruitful partnership. Additional programs and initiatives are being implemented to promote football and engage youth.
In the country, discussions were held on FIFA's major international events, including organizing and hosting competitions for women and youth. The Federation commended Uzbekistan for hosting the FIFA Futsal World Cup in 2024, marking the country's first FIFA event, and wished for its successful organization.
Furthermore, Gianni Infantino highly appreciated the comprehensive efforts in Uzbekistan to support and develop public and professional football, create modern infrastructure, and improve the educational base.
