Russia is ready to construct several schools in Uzbekistan where education will be conducted in Russian and follow Russian curricula, as stated by the Prime Minister of Russia, Mikhail Mishustin, during a joint commission meeting between the governments of Uzbekistan and Russia on September 18.
Mikhail Mishustin mentioned that this initiative would allow students to become more familiar with Russian culture and traditions. He further added that Russia would consider such a request if the Uzbek side expresses interest.
Prime Minister of Uzbekistan, Abdulla Aripov, acknowledged the development of cooperation between the two countries in the sphere of preschool and school education. He expressed gratitude for the proposals regarding the construction of Russian-language schools, highlighting that Uzbekistan already has more than 10,000 general education schools, with 10% of them offering education in Russian.
Aripov also mentioned that projects involving Russia, such as "Class" and "Malysh," aimed at enhancing the qualifications of teachers and improving teaching methods for the Russian language in Uzbekistan, have received a positive response.
Furthermore, Abdulla Aripov proposed increasing the number of teachers in mathematics, physics, and chemistry for Russian-language schools under the "Class" project.
It's worth noting that Russia plans to finance the construction of nine schools in Kyrgyzstan, with the project estimated at $500mn. The construction of these schools was officially launched by the presidents of the two countries, Vladimir Putin and Sadyr Japarov, on September 1.
